Date Swirl Cookies

Shades of "Grandma Maynard" aka Susan or Grammie....
I made the beloved cookies that I remember were almost always in the cookie jar in her dining room. The recipe makes lots so I actually cooked about a quarter of them and saved the remainder uncooked in the freezer. I'll let you know how that works out.

I plan to make the jelly roll to take to the Ground Hog Day potluck.

  1. It does make a lot of cookies and I often would freeze a roll or 3 too. The only problem with that was: when you thaw them out, the dough has a tendency to crack slightly and you end up squishing the dough together again here and there after you cut them into individual cookies. Cutting them while still partially frozen helps. It's not a big problem though and it still tastes good. Polly

  2. I cooked a roll of the frozen cookies for Mother, What a wonderful thing. Just enough to bake a pan of fresh cookies. Worth the up front work.
    p.s.
The Jelly Roll was a hit at the Ground Hog Day Lunch.
